Are you fatigued by the heart-shaped-box-candlelight-dinner-and-a-dozen-roses Valentine Day? If so, this party is for you!

In an attempt to appeal to those fatigued by the heart-shaped-box-candlelight-dinner-and-a-dozen-roses, we're throwing a Valentine's Day party, YES, here at the Hill Library--this fun party will poke fun at this Hallmark holiday. From 7- 11 pm on February 14, guests can enjoy a live DJ, themed food sampling (think "Jerk" Chicken and broken heart cookies), and cocktails. A large screen in the library will be playing Fatal Attraction and The Break-Up as the ultimate party backdrop. Large photos of couples that "didn't make it" (Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston, Sonny and Cher, Elizabeth Taylor and….well…there are many options here…) will be on display throughout our dramatic, historic venue.

Literary Speed Dating

The Hill Library is playing matchmaker this February by using their romantic setting to introduce Romeo to his Juliet or Juliet to her Romeo. Discussion will be centered on current and all-time favorite literary reads. The bar scene and on-line dating aren't for everyone, so this is a fun alternative for those that enjoy a good read!

From 7- 9 pm on Thursday, February 22, guests can enjoy bright discussion, trivia with "Sassy Lassy" creator John Cosgrove, and cocktails (cash bar). Participants will be given a number and a card, and after a two-minute intellectual chat, each participant will indicate their level of interest. Cards will be given to the staff that will connect people indicating a mutual interest.

$10 in advance - space is limited so advance tickets are required
